Letter from the President IPBN March 2025

The International Pediatric Balance Network has taken the first step towards building an international platform for the exchange and sharing of knowledge and expertise that will be open to all those interested in balance and vestibular issues in children (professionals, patients and their families).

The first call for the creation of an international network was a few months ago that was a real success. Interested colleagues from different backgrounds and countries responded enthusiastically to create this community and become part of it.

Since then, a small group of 10 board members took charge of the first steps. The foundations of the IPBN have been laid and the basic elements of the network now exist. A website (www.ipbn.net) is freely accessible and this site already offers information on the objectives of the network, a page with latest publications and useful videos and will provide a valuable resource base for pediatric vestibular and balance information on balance tests or balance disorders in children.

Access to the network will be open to anyone who is interested to assess and manage children's balance. However, to expand our network and consolidate its future, we need active members who are willing to get involved in promoting the IPBN and its mission. These members will hopefully commit themselves to actively participate in the activities of the IPBN.

The IPBN should be and will be represented in several upcoming scientific meetings in order to make itself known by the various professional societies involved in balance in adults or pediatrics. An annual IPBN meeting will be organized next year (details will be posted on the website as soon as they are ready).

This nascent IPBN network is no longer an idea or a dream, it is a reality that obviously meets a need in our community and is an essential tool for promoting knowledge around the world about balance disorders in children. We are counting on all of you to participate in the growth of the International Pediatric Balance Network (IPBN).
